RECOMMENDATION
recommendation
Authorize the City Manager to accept additional grant funds from the California State Library for the 2024 Lunch at the Library program;
Amend the Fiscal Year 2023/24 Operating Budget based on the actual award amount; and
Authorize the City Manager to sign any documents or undertake related actions necessary to accept and implement the grant.

On November 21, 2023, the City Council approved the application for the Lunch at the Library grant (Vote: 5-0).

BACKGROUND
On November 21, 2023, the Murrieta City Council authorized a grant application for the California State Library (CSL) Lunch at the Library program. Grant funds would expand the Library's summer outreach services through pop-up library programs/activities at the summer meal site located at Murrieta Elementary School in collaboration with the Murrieta Valley Unified School District. After the City Council action, the Murrieta Public Library (Library) was notified by CSL that the award would be increased by $7,700, making the new award amount $11,700. An executed award packet is forthcoming pending receipt of the Library's update to the previously submitted budget. This action authorizes the City Manager to accept the grant award, sign documents accepting the grant, and undertake actions necessary to allow the City to use the grant.
FISCAL IMPACT
Upon receipt of the award packet, the City Manager will be authorized to amend the Fiscal Year 2023/24 Operating Budget to increase the revenue appropriation of $11,700 in General Ledger (GL) Account 3570050-42221 Job Ledger (JL) Account 50152357-42221 ...
