Conduct the second reading by title only and with further reading waived, adopt Ordinance No. 598-23 entitled: An Ordinance of the City Council of the City of Murrieta, California, Amending Title 16 of the Murrieta Municipal Code to Revise the City's Development Code (MCA-2023-00001), to adopt Electric Vehicle Charging and Housing Implementation standards related to Sections 16.08.010, 16.08.020, 16.34.040, 16.44.115, 16.44.200, 16.52.040, and 16.73.050.

On October 17, 2023, the City Council conducted a public hearing and introduced Ordinance No. 598-23 (Vote: 5-0).

BACKGROUND
At its regular meeting on October 17, 2023, the City Council conducted the first reading of Ordinance No. 598-23 (Attachment 1). This Ordinance includes changes to Title 16 of the Murrieta Municipal Code (MMC), which is also referred to as the Development Code (Code), is intended to implement Climate Action Plan (CAP) Measure T-2 and Policy Action 1-9 of the Housing Element Update.
Specifically, Ordinance No. 598-23 amends the Code to revise MMC Section 16.44.115, entitled "Electric Vehicle (EV) Parking Requirements." The revisions reflect the latest California Green Buildings Standards Code and the City's CAP Policy T-2. The revisions to MMC Section 16.44.115 of the Development Code include changes to definitions, standards, and requirements.
