BACKGROUND
The Parks and Recreation Commission plays an important role in supporting the quality, safety, and functionality of City parks. Assigning Commissioners to specific parks provides additional eyes on facilities, helping staff identify issues early and maintain high standards of care. Through regular spot-checks, Commissioners can observe park conditions, note areas needing attention, and help ensure that parks remain safe, clean, and welcoming for all residents. This collaborative approach strengthens both maintenance efficiency and community engagement.

The Parks Maintenance Division in the Municipal Services Department continues to perform routine maintenance such as emptying trash, cleaning restrooms, removing graffiti, addressing liabilities and vandalism, and making repairs or noting deficiencies. Commissioners complement this work by conducting informal inspections of their assigned parks and reporting observations to staff.

The attachment to this report is the Park Assignment Form, which Commissioners may use while reviewing facilities. The form provides a structured way to note and track needed corrections. Issues such as fallen trees, broken irrigation, graffiti, vandalism, or other maintenance concerns may be reported directly to staff by phone or email, submitted using the Park Assignment Form, or reported through the City's Fix-it App.
