ABSTRACT
This item requests City Council approval to purchase a mechanic service truck for Murrieta Fire & Rescue through a cooperative purchasing program. The truck will support field fleet maintenance, improving efficiency, reduce downtime, and decrease reliance on outside vendors. The purchase is included in the Fire Department's fleet replacement schedule.
RECOMMENDATION

Approve the purchase of a mechanic service truck through a cooperative purchasing program in accordance with Municipal Code Section 3.08.295; and
Authorize the City Manager to approve and execute the Rush Truck Centers proposal, Johnson Equipment quote, and any other necessary documents to initiate procurement and construction of the mechanic service truck for a total of $263,278.15.

PRIOR ACTION/VOTE
On June 3, 2025, the City Council of the City of Murrieta adopted Joint Resolution No. 25-4836, approving the Fiscal Year 2025/26 Capital Improvement Plan budget, and approving the Capital Improvement Plan for Fiscal Years 2025/26 to 2029/30 (Vote: 5-0).

DISCUSSION
Murrieta Fire & Rescue (MFR) is requesting approval to purchase a mechanic service truck from Rush Truck Centers and the necessary upfitting from Johnson equipment through the Sourcewell cooperative purchasing contract, which allows the City to obtain competitively bid pricing from a nationwide government procurement program.
