PRIOR ACTION/VOTE
On June 20, 2023, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 23-4673, Approving a Tentative Agreement for a Successor Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Murrieta and the Murrieta Police Officers Association for the Period July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2026 (Vote: 4-0-1)1.

BACKGROUND
Most employees of the City of Murrieta (City) are represented by an employee organization and governed by a negotiated Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) setting forth compensation, benefits, and other terms and conditions of employment. Through collective bargaining, the City periodically negotiates with the respective employee organizations to establish updated compensation, benefits, and other terms and conditions of employment for represented employees, including tentative agreements for successor MOUs and the successor MOUs affecting such compensation, benefits, and other terms and conditions of employment. All such items must be voted on and passed by a majority of the membership of each affected employee organization, known as ratification, and subsequently approved by the City Council before becoming effective.
