Adopt Resolution No. 24-4778 entitled: A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Murrieta, California, Acknowledging Receipt of a Report Made by the Fire Chief of the Murrieta Fire Department Regarding the Inspection of Certain Occupancies Required to Perform Annual Inspections in Such Occupancies Pursuant to Sections 13146.2 and 13146.3 of the California Health and Safety Code.

BACKGROUND
California signed into law Senate Bill 1205 (SB1205) in 2018. SB 1205 amended the California Health and Safety Code (HSC) as of January 1, 2019, to add Section 13146.4. This new provision requires fire departments, who are mandated to perform annual inspections pursuant to Sections 13146.2 and 13146.3 of the HSC, to report their compliance annually to its administrating authority, in this case, the City Council. HSC sections 13146.2 and 13146.3 mandate fire departments conduct annual inspections of all public and private schools, hotels, motels, lodging houses, and apartment houses. Pursuant to the new HSC section 13146.4, Murrieta Fire & Rescue is submitting this report to demonstrate the fire department's compliance with this section.
Murrieta Fire & Rescue's (MF&R) Community Risk Reduction Division has achieved 100% compliance in inspecting the state-mandated occupancies in Murrieta. Currently, there are 35 legitimate schools (E- Occupancies), 6 Hotels with 707 rooms (R-1 Occupancies), and 35 Multi-family Dwellings with 5,043 apartment units (R-2 Occupancies).
