ABSTRACT
Approval of this item will authorize the purchase of auto-extrication equipment in accordance with Murrieta Municipal Code Section 3.08.295 through a cooperative purchasing agreement, and execution of all documents necessary to complete the purchase.

Authorize the purchase of auto-extrication equipment from L.N. Curtis, in the amount of $119,088.25, using State of California Office of Traffic Safety grant funds through a cooperative purchasing agreement in accordance with Municipal Code Section 3.08.295; and

Authorize the City Manager, or designee, to execute all documents necessary to complete the equipment purchase.

PRIOR ACTION/VOTE
On November 18, 2025, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 25-4894, accepting the OTS grant and amending the Fiscal Year 2025/26 Operating Budget to appropriate grant funds (Vote 5-0).

DISCUSSION
On October 8, 2025, Murrieta Fire & Rescue (MFR) was notified of a $120,000 traffic safety grant award from the State of California Office of Traffic Safety, funded by the Department of Transportation.

The grant funds will be used to replace MFR's current auto-extrication equipment, which is outdated due to modern vehicle construction and safety systems. The upgraded equipment will reduce rescue times and improve safety for both firefighters and the public during vehicle extrications.

Staff propose purchasing the equipment under a cooperative purchasing agreement with L.N. Curtis, ensuring compliance with City procurement policies and competitive pricing.
