Adopt a Resolution No. 25-4894 entitled: A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Murrieta, California Accepting a Grant Award through the Regional Crash Response and Extrication Improvement Program Administered by the State of California Office of Traffic Safety;
Accept a State of California Office of Traffic Safety Program Grant Award in the amount of $120,000;
Amend the Fiscal Year 2025/26 Operating Budget to allocate and appropriate the $120,000 in grant funds and carry over any unused grant budget to Fiscal Year 2026/27; and
Authorize the Fire Chief, and/or their designee, to execute all necessary documents and take actions required to accept, implement, and administer the grant, including ratification of the designee's earlier execution of the grant agreement.

PRIOR ACTION/VOTE
On June 3, 2025, the City Council acting as the Board of Directors of the Murrieta Fire District approved Resolution MFD25-225, adopting the Fire District Operating Budget for Fiscal Year 2025/26 (Vote: 5-0).

DISCUSSION
On October 8, 2025, Murrieta Fire & Rescue (MFR) was given notice it was provisionally awarded a $120,000 traffic safety grant from the State of California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS), funded by the U.S. Department of Transportation. The City Council needs to adopt the attached resolution to accept the grant. The grant performance period began on October 1, 2025, and will continue through September 30, 2026.
