BACKGROUND
In the approved Fiscal Year 2023/24 budget, the Murrieta Police Department (MPD) budgeted $550,000 for the purchase of new, and the replacement of, police vehicles. With this item, the Police Department requests authorization to purchase five (5) new police vehicles from Phil Long Ford dealership of Denver (Phil Long). Phil Long supplies Ford Explorers to the County of Riverside Sheriff's Department and is a part of The Interlocal Purchasing System (TIPS), which is a government cooperative purchasing program (Attachments 1 & 2). Phil Long has confirmed they have five (5) 2024 Ford Explorer EcoBoosts that they will hold and ship to MPD. The MPD attempted to shop local for these vehicles, but no local dealerships were able to acquire these vehicles, including Paradise Chevrolet in Temecula.
