PRIOR ACTION/VOTE

CITY COUNCIL GOAL
Foster and promote an engaged, connected and caring community.
BACKGROUND
Susan G. Komen (Komen) is a breast cancer organization in the United States (U.S.). Komen works on patient navigation and advocacy, providing resources for breast cancer patients, ranging from medical system support, funding research, causes and treatment of breast cancer. One of the ways to become involved is through MORE THAN PINK Walk (Walk), Susan G. Komen’s largest fundraising event series, evolving from the Race for the Cure in 2018. Each year, Komen hosts over 100,000 participants at their 40+ in-person (and one virtual) walks across the U.S., offering inclusive and accessible options for people of all ages and abilities. The Walk provides participants with the opportunity to come together and connect in meaningful ways.
To join, participants can register as individual Participants, Team Members, or Team Captains through the 2024 Komen Inland Empire MORE THAN PINK Walk website. There is no fee to register. Based on this, the City Council can elect to establish a City Team.
FISCAL IMPACT
Since there is no cost for participants to register, there is no fiscal impact to the City.
