CITY COUNCIL GOAL

Foster and promote an engaged, connected and caring community.

BACKGROUND

In 2015, staff developed a "Frequently Asked Questions" (FAQ) brochure to address common inquiries from the public. Since its creation, the brochure has served as a valuable resource, assisting residents with questions related to parks, recreational facilities, and programs. It has been distributed at community events, shared online, and referenced by staff to support the public.

Now, a decade later, updates and revisions are necessary to ensure the information remains accurate and relevant. Community needs have evolved, recreational offerings have changed, and some sections are outdated or missing important information.

Key updates include refreshing the marketing logo, website address, and phone number. Additionally, significant revisions are needed for the Aquatics and Skate Park sections. Expanding the brochure to include answers to new questions would be beneficial, covering topics such as park projects, events, sports, e-bikes, and the role of Park Rangers.

In this review, the Parks and Recreation Commission plays a crucial role in ensuring that the FAQ brochure remains a valuable and accessible resource. The Commission’s feedback will help determine which questions to retain, revise, remove, or add to better align with community needs.

To improve accessibility and ease of sharing, a QR code could be incorporated, allowing residents to download the brochure directly to their phones. This feature would ensure convenient access while enabling seamless sharing with neighbors and friends. The updated brochure will be available in both print and digital formats to maximize accessibility.

FISCAL IMPACT

There will likely be costs associated with contracting a consultant to assist with the graphic design, formatting, and overall update of the brochure; however, the exact amount has yet to be determined. While uploading the revised brochure to the City’s website will not incur additional costs, printing physical copies for distribution at events and resource fairs will require funding. At this time, the exact cost of printing remains unknown.
