PRIOR ACTION/VOTE
On March 2, 2021, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 21-4369, authorizing submittal of applications for all CalRecycle grants for which the City of Murrieta is eligible (Vote 4-0).
STRATEGIC ALIGNMENT
The City Council’s goal of maintaining a high-performing organization that values fiscal sustainability, transparency, accountability, and organizational efficiency is supported by maintaining the City of Murrieta’s authorization to pursue eligible CalRecycle funding opportunities. This action is consistent with the City Departments - Top Projects List in the City Manager section, which identifies continued implementation of CalRecycle requirements as an administrative priority.
DISCUSSION
The City of Murrieta’s (City) current resolution authorizing the submittal of grant applications to the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) is set to expire. The proposed Resolution No. 26-4910 authorizes the submittal of applications to CalRecycle for all grants for which the City is eligible and empowers the City Manager, or designee, to execute all related grant documents, including applications, agreements, amendments, and requests for payment, on behalf of the City.
The new resolution is valid for a period of five (5) years, ensuring the City remains eligible to pursue CalRecycle grant funding and allowing the City Manager to carry out all necessary actions to implement approved grants. Adoption of the resolution provides continuity and maintains the City’s ability to take advantage of grant opportunities as they become available.
