DISCUSSION
At the July 7, 2026, City Council meeting, Council Member Stone requested to bring back an item for City Council discussion regarding a proposed “Stuff the Bus” program. Council Member Stone has been coordinating with Murrieta Valley Unified School District (MVUSD) and the Salvation Army about this project, which is intended to collect toys this fall for distribution to families in need via the Salvation Army. MVUSD will lend a bus for this purpose. Various community locations will be identified as donation collection facilities where toys can be delivered. The proposed role of the City will be to help publicize the program and donation locations, as well as to have a donation collection facility at City Hall and potentially other City facilities. Though the “Stuff the Bus” concept is new for Murrieta, this program builds on the well-established tradition of community collection opportunities for those in need, particularly working with the Salvation Army to distribute the collected materials.
Council Member Stone has been leading this endeavor and will provide additional information about the program during the discussion.
