BACKGROUND
Special Projects, Construction, and Capital Improvement Plan Update
Town Square Park and Amphitheater
• The revised Town Square Park and Amphitheater Policy and User Fees was unanimously adopted by City Council on April 21, 2026.
Alderwood Pickleball Courts
• Construction of three new pickleball courts has been completed.
• Ribbon cutting took place on April 30 with Mayor Levell, Council Members and Commissioners, and Murrieta staff.
• Courts 1 and 2 are available for reservations. Courts 3, 4, and 5 have first come first serve.
Cal Oaks Tennis Court Lighting
• Project is complete.
• Parks Maintenance Supervisor Josh Havens is to redesign the reservation signs on the courts so that the public understands that they need to make a reservation to turn on the lights with a QR code that takes them to the reservation page.
Sports Field Synthetic Turf Replacements
• Turf renovation at the Los Alamos Hills Sports Park soccer field was completed on January 29, 2026.
• Turf renovation on the Torrey Pines Park baseball field is complete. The baseball field remains closed pending completion of new chain link fencing.
• Torrey Pines park and amenities are open to the public.
Alderwood Park Tech Improvements
• Alarm and camera system has been installed.
• Drywall and painting has been completed.
• A new electrical cabinet has been installed.
• Training to take place with staff on new alarm system.
Library Expansion
• Current projected completion date: November 2026.
• Construction Status:
o Foundation poured.
o Steel super structure in place.
o Wood framing and sheathing in progress.
• Weekly progress meetings take place at the library each Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Maintenance - Repairs, Inspections, Miscellaneous
• A new kitchen hood has been installed at the Community Center.
• Staff are working with a new contractor to repair holes in the roof at the Senior Center beginning next fiscal year.
• Staff are working to have an exit door repaired at the Youth Center to comply with ADA and emergency exit standards.
• Park Rangers will continue patrols at Cal Oaks Sports Park three times a week from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
• Warm Springs Park will receive increased patrols for vandalism prevention until further notice.
