BACKGROUND
Special Events
* On Saturday, March 23, the City of Murrieta CSD hosted the Egg Hunt (Eggstravaganza) and Rec Expo at Town Square Park from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. There was a great turnout for the egg hunt with separate egg hunts for ages 3-10. There was also an egg hunt area for 2 years and under and special needs. CSD offered photos with the Easter Bunny as well! In addition to the Egg Hunt, CSD had a Rec Expo and invited instructors that teach classes through Parks and Recreation to come showcase their classes. Everyone made it through the morning with good weather and it did not rain until it was time for clean up!
* On Saturday April 6 and Sunday April 7, the Tour de Murrieta had its 19th year of the signature event. Council members were present to start the kids' race as well as the pro race, and have some fun themselves!
* On Saturday April 20 and Sunday April 21, the Blues and Jazz Fest was held at Town Square Park and Amphitheater. Newman Hospitality Group sold roughly 2,500 tickets per day for the first of their four-event season. Kenny Wayne Shepard headlined Saturday's event and Tower of Power headlined Sunday's event. The next event will be the Old Town Music Festival on June 22 and 23, also at Town Square Park and Amphitheater.
* On Saturday April 27, the County of Riverside held an Overdose and Poisoning Awareness 5K at Town Square Park to raise awareness and remember those who have been affected by poisoning and overdose. There were vendors at the 5K, free food was offered to the participants.
